Also, if you want to be a smoker, kudos to you, but when you come to work in a hospital you shouldn't smell like you bathed in your ashtray. It was so awful it gave me a headache, and my friend staying in the hospital had to mention it to the nurse. Of course she didn't care. Ridiculous!
My brother whom has cerebral palsy was transferred here from West Penn with breathing issues. They trached him and has feeding tube. The staff on 2nd Carahealth Dept are the most rudest and non informing I have ever seen. The cleaning lady Jamie is the nicest person we met here. It's like pulling teeth to get info from anyone. Would not recommend at all. He needed to be checked on often as he could not talk,4 feeding tubes had to be redone because he got his finger stuck with itching and accidentally pulled them out. Not much on watching him. He's not better, they transferring him out tomorrow, I for one am glad.
This is not a good hospital. The doctors in the ER will discharge you without providing any quality medical care. They will send you packing, despite the fact that you may be sick (pneumonia) or injured (concussion from a head injury). Despite having these types of problems, you will be sent on your merry way. You have to fight with them constantly to get the required minimum care. Then, they misinterpret your records and will do other things to cause you even more pain. I would rather die than have to go here!
Update-After making a complaint in the website the nurse manager and housekeeping came in to talk and sort through the frustrations we've had. They were all very kind and attentive. I will say they are trying their best to make things right.
The staff here was very good and kind... especially Molly in neuroscience (I think she's a PA) - you freaking rock! My father-in-law was going through a hard time and you really helped make his day brighter with just a cup of coffee - can't thank you enough for your kindness and hope that this positive review may somehow show up as a bonus in your future! All in all, the facility is newer and clean with ample free parking and a dedicated team of professionals. Much better than the inner city hospitals IMHO.
Some of these people don't need to work here as they clearly cannot read precautions that are written on the board. Aide came in to take vitals, put the cuff on the arm that the board clearly states NOT TO USE. I took it off before she could take the b/p. Even worse, 15 min later nurse comes in and tries the same thing. Again, I had to stop her.
Had to get emergency gal bladder surgery. Everyone was amazing! The ER nurses and doc, the oncology nurses, Cathy, Brittney, Alison, Veronica, Dr Benedicts OR team, dietary, Molly who stuck me twice and housekeeping! Sorry I know I missed some names. They were so caring and concerned about me. I was so scared and they comforted me and took all worries away.
